Kuwait City, Kuwait(opens in a new window)

Kuwait City (Arabic: مدينة الكويت) is the capital and largest city of Kuwait. Located at the heart of the country on the south shore of Kuwait Bay on the Persian Gulf, it is the political, cultural and economic centre of the emirate, containing Kuwait's Seif Palace, government offices, and the headquarters of most Kuwaiti corporations and banks. It is one of the hottest cities in summer on earth, with average summer high temperatures over 45 °C (113 °F) for three months of the year.

Lightning (roller coaster)(Opens in a new window)

Lightning was an inverted roller coaster located at Kuwait Entertainment City in Kuwait City. The ride opened in 2004 and was built by Swiss manufacturers Bolliger & Mabillard. Lightnings layout was identical to that of the Batman: The Ride clone that appears in many Six Flags parks in the United States. The coaster closed along with the park on June 6, 2016, and was subsequently removed in October 2020. It was thought to have been scrapped, making it third Bolliger & Mabillard roller coaster to be demolished, after the two Dueling Dragon coasters at Universal's Islands of Adventure in Orlando, but it recently resurfaced at an under construction park in India with a reopening set for 2025.
