Avadi is a western suburb of Chennai, located within the Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu, India. Situated at about 22 km from Chennai Central Railway Station, it is one of the four municipal corporations in the Chennai Metropolitan Area and is governed by the Avadi Municipal Corporation. It is surrounded by major defence establishments and is home to various universities and engineering colleges. The neighborhood is served by Avadi Railway Station of the Chennai Suburban Railway. As of 2011, Avadi had a population of 345,996, which is 10th most populous place in Tamil Nadu. It is home to the Heavy Vehicles Factory (HVF), Ordnance Factory Board (ODF) which houses Engine Factory and Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE). The lake in Avadi was known as Paaleripattu, which is now found only in very old land documents.

Queens Land is a theme park in Poonamallee, Chennai, India, covering 70 acres (28 hectares). It opened in August 2003.

Dash N Splash was a water theme park located in Chennai, India. It was opened in 1995 and was the first exclusive water park in Chennai and South India. The idea of opening the water park was to get rid of the heat, sweat and dust of the city. The motto of the water park was "Refresh Yourself". Indian actor Suriya inaugurated this theme park. The park was shaded with coconut trees for refreshment and relaxation. Dash N Splash had a number of water reservoirs and slides for adults, kids & senior citizens. It was permanently closed down in 2012.

Kishkinta was a theme park located in Chennai, India. It was founded by Navodaya Appachan, the owner of Navodaya Studio. The park spread across 120 acres of vast area with a scenic landscape, bushes, fountains, decorations and designs. Along with these, the park had various entertainment places of Wave pools, water rides, roller coasters, toy trains etc. especially for children who visit for picnics. It was named after the fabled simian kingdom in the epic – Ramayana. As of 2016, it is currently closed.
